Meet Jacqui
A coach who combines structure, psychology and practical experience — always with the rider and horse’s welfare at heart.
I’ve ridden all my life. Originally from South Africa, I moved to the UK in 1997 after a career in showjumping, working for professional riders and teaching in riding schools. Shortly before leaving South Africa in my mid 20’s, my focus shifted to dressage — and over the past 28 years in the UK I’ve competed up to Advanced level and trained horses to PSG, giving me a solid understanding of what it takes to develop both horse and rider through the levels.
Today, I specialise in rider-focused coaching that blends structured training with mindset support. I work with riders of all levels — from leisure riders and Pony Club members to youth and senior team riders, including individuals on international pathways in both dressage and eventing. I offer both in-person coaching and off-horse sessions to support performance, confidence, and rider development.

My Coaching Philosophy
My coaching is founded on resilience, integrity, compassion, and continuous growth. I believe that every rider, regardless of age, experience, or background, can progress with the right structure, mindset, and support. Success, to me, is about joy, self-belief, and steady improvement—not just scores or medals.
I have spent my life with horses, and my passion for them runs deep. Horses deserve the utmost respect, kindness, and ethical care. I am committed to the Charter of the Horse, which means prioritising their welfare and wellbeing above all else. Every horse I work with should feel safe, confident, and valued. Training must enhance their natural ability and trust, never push beyond their physical or emotional limits.
My coaching places equal focus on both horse and rider. I work to develop riders who are physically balanced, mentally strong, and deeply aware of their horse’s needs. I encourage riders to take responsibility for their learning while providing ongoing guidance and encouragement. Together, we build a positive, structured environment that nurtures partnership, respect, and athleticism.
I am dedicated to fostering equality, inclusivity, and respect. Everyone deserves access to high-quality coaching in a safe, supportive space free from discrimination or bias. I believe that diversity enriches the equestrian community and strengthens the bond between rider and horse.
Setbacks and mistakes are part of the journey—they’re feedback, not failure. I bring a creative, problem-solving mindset to help riders overcome challenges with clear goals and realistic plans. I always go the extra mile for my clients but expect mutual respect and kindness. I do not tolerate rudeness, cruelty, or disrespect toward horses or people.
I strive to help people to leave feeling stronger, more confident, and inspired to push beyond what they thought possible. I aim to be a steady, trustworthy presence—a coach who believes in you even when self-doubt creeps in. Confidentiality and honesty are core to everything I do.
